We are now entering a bold new growth phase and seeking a dynamic leader to join us as our C hief Growth & Investment Officer (CGIO).
The Unique Opportunity
This is a founding executive position for a capital-raising specialist who understands that true wealth in cleantech comes through ownership. You will trade traditional salary for:
- Meaningful Equity: 5-10% stake (subject to 4-year vesting with 1-year cliff)
- Performance Bonuses: 10% of annual net profits (distributed after 40% mandatory reinvestment)
- Deal Economics: 5% commission on gross profits from transactions you originate and close Board Seat: Direct influence on company strategy
Role Summary
As CGIO, you will spearhead fundraising efforts, lead strategic growth initiatives, and develop key partnerships and business opportunities. This is a high-impact, equity-based leadership role designed for someone who thrives in entrepreneurial environments and is passionate about renewable energy and social impact.
Moreover, you will work directly with the co-founders to secure funding (grants, investments, project financing), expand our market presence, and drive revenue growth across existing and emerging markets.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & Investment (Primary Focus):
- Identify, engage, and secure grants, venture capital, private equity, and impact investments
- Build and maintain relationships with investors, financial institutions, and funding agencies
- Lead pitch development, investor relations, and fundraising campaigns
- Prepare funding proposals, financial models, and growth projections
Growth Strategy & Business Development:
- Shape and execute company growth plans and market expansion strategies
- Identify and pursue high-value projects, tenders, and commercial deals
- Lead partnership development with NGOs, government bodies, developers, and tech partners
- Monitor market trends and competitor activity to refine positioning
Leadership & Collaboration:
- Collaborate closely with the CEO and COO on company direction and execution
- Contribute to brand positioning, public representation, and investor communications
- Participate in key strategic decisions and long-term visioning for the company
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Serial entrepreneur comfortable with high-risk/high-reward compensation
- MBA or finance background with energy sector specialization (Optional)
- Network including 50+ relevant investors in climate tech space
- Willingness to travel across Africa (40% travel expected)
- Passion for displacing 500,000 or more diesel generators across continent
- Familiarity with grant writing, venture capital, or renewable energy funding is a strong asset
Qualifications & Requirements
- Proven track record in fundraising, investment, or strategic business development
- Deep understanding/willing to learn about renewable energy, climate finance, or impact investing
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work without fixed monthly income
- Experience working in or with African or emerging markets preferred
Compensation Structure
- 5-10% Fully Diluted Equity (4-year vesting)
- 10% Annual Profit Share (post-reinvestment/VAT)
- 5% Gross Profit Commission on Closed Deals No base salary until Series A completion
